The DIY Bucket Test

Unsure if your pool is losing water due to normal sun evaporation or a plumbing leak? Perform the simple bucket test. Turn off all water features, place a weighted bucket on the first pool step, and fill it to match the pool's water line. Mark both levels with tape. After 24 hours, compare the lines. If the pool level dropped more than the bucket level, you likely have a leak.
